We are looking for a local project coordinator as of September 1, 2018 or by agreement to implement the JOBS Moldova educational project and support our team.

JOBS stands for “Job orientation for businesses and schools”. The project supports students at the end of compulsory education, to discover what career they would like to pursue. They are encouraged to get in touch with local businesses in order to get an insight into working life.

Your duties and responsibilities

As local project coordinator in Moldova, you are the contact person for diverse implementation activities and duties in the region of Balti. You cover a wide range of tasks, all of which require communicative skills, in-depth language knowledge, accuracy, networking and consistency. You support the coordination and planning of the project on site to achieve the project goal. You work together with the project manager in Zurich and with teachers in partner schools as well as local stakeholders and cooperation partners, such as the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research, in the long-term implementation of the project.

  • Develop work-plans for implementation of the project in close consultation with project management, stakeholders and key partners.
  • Cooperate with the Zürich University of Teacher Education (PH Zurich) project manager by discussing activities openly and reflect on actions done.
  • Manage the realization of project outputs through coordinating planned activities.
  • Organize meetings including preparing the agenda, reporting on the project results and dissemination of meeting minutes to all participants.
  • Collect and analysemonitoring data from regional teams.
  • Contribute to strengthening relationships with international donors and actors in the field of education.
  • Support an effective partnership with all stakeholders and ensure the long-term sustainability of the project programme.
  • Determination of programmatic areas of cooperation, based on strategic goals of the management, country needs and donors’ priorities.
  • Prepare regular reports on activities, outputs and outcomes for the PH Zurich and the donor.

The duration of the available position is September 1, 2018 –December 31, 2020 with possible prolongation.

Required Skills and Experiences

An advanced degree in international relations and/or in a relevant field to education is required. Excellent spoken and written English and Romanian language skills are preconditions for your daily work. Solid experience in project management is needed and a minimum of 5 years work experience in international projects is a strong asset. Experience from working with various civil society groups, NGOs, the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research and schools is a strength. For this versatile and demanding job, you need a great understanding and large network. You communicate clearly, work precisely, efficiently and structurally. Even in hectic situations you keep track and are cooperative.

About the project

The project Job Orientation Training in Businesses and Schools (‘JOBS’) Moldova is co-financed by the Canton of Zurich in Switzerland and was successfully piloted in the Republic of Moldova in cooperation with three pilot schools from September 2016 until December 2017. LINK:

The project will enter a development phase in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research in the Republic of Moldova this year.

The project combines the two elements labour market and schooling. In order to prepare students for their profession, activities have to start before decisions are taken. Therefore, the last years of compulsory education and of gymnasium should devote some of the time in class to the orientation towards a profession. This will help students not only to prepare for the choice of their further educational career, but also offers them access to general information about professional opportunities and a chance to acquire skills, which are useful even for those who decide to go on to university. JOBS promotes both the training of specific competences and of general life skills.
