The Public Association EcoContact is a national environmental organization with the office in Chisinau. The mission of organization is “to support environmental improvements and partnerships for sustainable development of communities in Moldova, thus contributing to the formation of a responsible society respecting human rights and ensuring a favorable environment for the present and future generation”. 

The organization has three strategic directions:

  • Implementation of Aarhus Convention. Organization provides support to public participation and access to information on environmental matters. Starting with 2013 EcoContact is hosting the Environmental Consultation and Information Aarhus Center, created with support with OSCE Mission in Moldova;
  • Sustainable development with a special focus on: green economy, climate change/disaster risk reduction, waste and chemical management, environmental education
  • Environmental legislation. Organization provide support to align national environmental legislation with provisions of EU-RM Association Agreement and the Action Plan.

EcoContact is a rapidly developing organization and a special focus is put on the organization development. Organization provides possibilities for personal growth and development.

In the process of work EcoContact has established partnerships with various actors on the local, national and regional levels. We work with local communities and public authorities, NGO community, national level authorities and donors. Organization is implementing environmental projects, providing thematically consultancy in the priority areas and is currently developing the organizational development strategy, that is supported by the Swedish Embassy through Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency.

EcoContact is hiring Grant support specialist (1) to guide the grant beneficiaries throughout the process of grants implementation; (2) regular monitor the activities that grant beneficiaries are implemented; (3) collect, verify and analyze the reports and supporting documentation are that presented by beneficiaries; (4) participate in the process of elaboration of the documents for the grants scheme and contribute to the reports that are submitted by EcoContact. 

Scope of work and responsibilities

Grant monitoring specialist will work in close cooperation with the other members of the team and  provide the support and supervision for the grant beneficiaries of EcoContact. We are looking for the person having relevant background and experience in providing support for  grants implementation, capable to travel to the localities EcoContact is working with and provide support, advise and well as perform regular monitoring. Wishing to see as a new member of a team highly motivated person, willing to bring changes and to develop in a dynamic team of professionals.

Grant monitoring specialist will have following tasks:

  1. Provide assistance to EcoContact’s grantees in the different localities of Moldova.
  2. Provide the data collection, analysis of data and information on grants activities, supported by EcoContact.
  3. Contribute to the elaboration, improvement of the documents that support the grant implementation process, supported by different donors.
  4. Keep the records of visits, support accorded, record the lessons learned from the organizations and come with the initiative for improvement of existing processes.
  5. Verify the reports (narrative, financial) and the supporting documentation that is submitted by grant beneficiaries.
  6. Provide the inputs to the narrative progress reports and other documents regarding the activities implemented by EcoContact.
  7. Continuously record and maintain relevant project activities, issues, risks, lessons learned and other documents as per the internal regulation;
  8. Actively engage in the knowledge sharing within EcoContact organization and provide the inputs for the organization’s strategic plan.
  9. Actively participate in organization’s work and contribute for the fundraising and visibility activities.
  10. Perform any other duties connected directly with the implementation of the Project as required.

Management Arrangements:

Grant support specialist will work under direct guidance and supervision of Executive director and in close cooperation with organization’s staff, partners and beneficiaries.

Requirements for experience and qualification

Academic Qualification

  • University degree in Economy, Business, Law, Public Administration or another relevant field.


  • At least 2 years of experience in the implementation of projects supported by different donors.
  • Previous experience in development assistance will be a strong advantage. Good knowledge of Project Cycle Management methodologies.
  • Experience of work in teams.
  • Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel).


  • Knowledge of Russian and English languages.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Results-driven and initiative-taking behavior.
  • Proven ability to develop effective working relationships with the other team members.
  • Able to work in an autonomous manner; respect the required confidentiality and ethical rules, and communicate effectively with different entities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, communication and diplomatic skills, ability to work in a team;

The successful candidate should be willing to travel to the different project sites in Moldova. Applicants who are holders of a clean driving license and /or a car have an advantage.
