Fundraising Manager at the Alliance of Small and Medium Enterprises from Moldova

The Alliance of Small and Medium Enterprises from Moldova (AIM) is looking for a dynamic and results-oriented Fundraising Manager to lead and implement our resource mobilization strategy. This role is essential for securing sustainable funding to support our mission: advancing the growth and resilience of SMEs in Moldova through advocacy, networking, and access to resources.

Founded in 2016 as an employers’ association, AIM is a membership-based, non-governmental organization representing over 120 SMEs across multiple industries. We advocate for a supportive business environment and promote investments and entrepreneurship through inclusive, impactful initiatives.

This assignment is carried out in the framework of the project “Improved business enabling environment through capacity building of AIM and enhanced cross-sectorial cooperation”, implemented by the Alliance of Small and Medium Enterprises from Moldova (AIM) and Optim Project – Opportunities through Technologies and Innovation in Moldova, a project of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), implemented by HELVETAS Swiss Intercooperation.

Part-time, Service Contract | Duration: 16 months (until July 2026)

Key Responsibilities

The Fundraising Manager will work closely with the AIM leadership team to:

1. Design and Implement a Comprehensive Fundraising Strategy

Develop a detailed fundraising strategy aligned with AIM’s goals.
Define annual fundraising targets and timelines.
Identify priority funding sources (grants, sponsorships, monetizable services).
Design engagement tactics to ensure a diversified and sustainable income stream.
Deliver a comprehensive strategy document within the first 3 months.

2. Develop and Execute a Fundraising Action Plan

Prepare an annual action plan outlining specific activities and expected results.
Coordinate the preparation of grant proposals and sponsorship outreach.
Monitor and report on progress, adjusting tactics where needed.

3. Secure Grants and Project-Based Funding

Conduct regular research on relevant funding opportunities in EU integration, SME support, and business development.
Develop and submit at least 5 high-quality grant or project proposals within the first year.
Tailor each application to align with AIM’s impact areas and funders’ priorities.

4. Attract Sponsorships and Build Strategic Partnerships

Design and promote attractive sponsorship packages at different contribution levels.
Engage businesses, institutions, and individuals in mutually beneficial partnerships.
Build and maintain long-term relationships with sponsors and donors.

5. Monetize AIM’s In-House Expertise and Services

Assess and identify existing resources that can generate revenue (e.g., trainings, consulting).
Develop and implement new monetization strategies to increase self-sufficiency.

Candidate Profile

Education:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Marketing, Development, Fundraising, or a related field.

Experience:

Minimum 3 years in fundraising, business development, or project management (preferably in a non-profit or development context).
Proven track record in securing grants and managing sponsorships.
Proven experience with diverse funding mechanisms and partners.

Skills:

Excellent written and verbal communication in Romanian and English (Russian is an asset).
Strong analytical, strategic planning, and negotiation skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively with multiple stakeholders.
