Driver and Fleet Responsible

Project HOPE aims to improve access to quality care for vulnerable groups in the Republic of Moldova by strengthening the health system for vulnerable people including foreign people and strengthening the network of health services in under-resourced and underserved communities.
Position Purpose: Ensuring the safe, efficient and effective management of the organization's vehicles and transportation needs, in accordance with the Operations Handbook and adherence to the organization guidelines. Major Functions: Under the supervision of the Supply Chain Coordinator, the Driver will be responsible for driving authorised personnel and delivery and collection services.
Main Responsibilities:
Under the overall guidance and direct supervision of the Supply Chain Coordinator, the driver will perform the following key functions:
- Safe and Timely Transportation
- Safely transport personnel, goods, and equipment as required
- Ensure punctuality and adherence to schedules for planned trips or activities
- Provision of reliable and secure driving services
- Proper use of vehicle
- Day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle
- Availability of documents/ supplies
- Performance of clerical work related to Logistics and Program services
2. Fleet Management and Maintenance - Oversee the organization’s fleet, ensuring vehicles are properly maintained, serviced, and in optimal working condition.
- Schedule regular maintenance and repairs while keeping detailed records of vehicle usage and maintenance history.
- Monitor fuel usage and maintain fuel efficiency.
Ensures provision of reliable and secure driving services by:
- Ensures employees is driven and other authorized personnel as directed
- Drives office vehicles for the transport of authorized personnel and delivery and collection of mail, documents and other items and
- Meets and escorts of Project HOPE staff to destination needed within the city and country and facilitates paperwork required.
- Ensures cost-savings through proper use of vehicle through accurate maintenance of daily vehicle logs, provision of inputs to preparation of the vehicle maintenance plans and reports.
- Ensures proper day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle through timely minor repairs, arrangements for major repairs, timely changes of oil, check of tires, brakes, car washing, etc.
3. Compliance and Documentation
- Ensure compliance with local transportation laws, regulations, and organizational policies.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date vehicle registration, insurance, and other legal documents
- Ensures availability of all the required documents/supplies including vehicle insurance, vehicle logs, office directory, map of the city/country, first aid kit, and necessary spare parts in the assigned vehicle.
4. Coordination and Communication
- Collaborate with internal departments to align transportation services with organizational needs.
- Serve as the point of contact for transportation-related queries or emergencies
- Ensure that all immediate actions required by rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in accidents.
- Performs clerical work related to Supply Chain Coordinator such as sorting, registration of incoming/outgoing mail, filling, photocopying, etc. as required.
5. Risk and Safety Management
- Conduct regular safety checks and inspections of vehicles.
- Implement measures to ensure the safety of passengers and cargo during transport.
- Train and guide drivers on safety protocols and defensive driving.
6. Resource Optimization
- Efficiently allocate vehicles and drivers to maximize the use of resources while minimizing costs.
- Monitor and report on fleet performance, providing insights for improvement.
7. Emergency Response
- Be prepared to handle transportation-related emergencies or unexpected logistical needs.
Impact of Results
The key results have an impact on the accurate, safe, cost-effective and timely execution of the Project HOPE services.
Facilities
Follow up and make sure facilities requests are processed:
- Track all requests.
- Study and analyze all requests and advise management on the best way forward.
- Track all expenses on facilities.
Other tasks assigned by the supervisor.
The responsibilities listed in the JD are not exhaustive and may be readjusted according to operational needs but will remain in line with the overall purpose of the role.
Educational background: High school diploma or Bachelor’s Degree
Years of Experience:
- At minimum five years of driving experience
- Experience working with internationally funded projects.
- Driver’s license and mastery of the driving code

Locations: Chisinau, Republic of Moldova
Type of contract - Employment contract; Full-time job
Salary range: 700 – 900 USD Gross. Based on the skills and abilities of the candidates and previous experience.
Initial duration of the fixed-term contract: June - September 2025 (with potential extension)
