Emergency Field Monitors



Background

HELVETAS is the largest Swiss nongovernmental organization with a dual mandate for long term development and humanitarian response. It has been present in Moldova since 2018 implementing projects in the field of market systems development in the field of agriculture. It has a country office located in Chisinau with 9 staff.

Following the crisis in Ukraine, HELVETAS initiated emergency assistance for refugees at border points and reception centres. We are currently reinforcing our operational presence to build up a comprehensive response to the current crisis, in close collaboration with Alliance 2015 partners.

Duration: 3 months, renewable
Duty Station: Chisinau

GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Acting Programme Coordinator, Field Monitors will be responsible for coordination & monitoring of project activities at project sites. This includes facilitating assessments, monitoring of project activities as well as delivery of commodities.

Responsibilities
• Facilitate field assessments and oversee work of field-based staff, volunteers
• Facilitate and organize project activities with field-based staff, volunteers, and partner organisations
• Monitor ongoing work at field level and report on regular basis on progress.
• Conduct himself/herself both professionally and personally in such a manner as to bring credit to HELVETAS and to not jeopardize its humanitarian mission.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field: social sciences, development studies, education
• Several years of work experience in a related discipline
• Driver license B
• Experience in project implementation, preferably with an NGO.
• Good problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated skills in planning, organizing, analysis and reporting.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English.
• Computer skills – Word and Excel.
• Willingness and ability to perform field work and travel outside Chisinau approx. 70% of the time.
• Ability to be flexible and work in pressurised working environments

Due to the urgency recruitment will be done on a rolling basis, thus the position will be filled as soon as a suitable candidate is identified.
