INTERSOS is an International Humanitarian organization based in Italy on the front-line of emergencies, bringing assistance to victims of armed conflicts, natural disasters and extreme exclusion with particular attention to the protection of the most vulnerable people.

INTERSOS is regularly registered in Moldova with its main office in Chisinau. Since March, INTERSOS started working at the Palanca and Tudora borders offering psychological support and primary health assistance to refugees in transit. INTERSOS is planning to extend psychological support to Refugees hosted both in the Refugee Accommodation Centers and in private housings.

Tasks

  • Identify protection cases in need of PSS and link them with other service providers as needed.
  •  Identify mental or emotional disorders and refer them to specialized Mental health external services 
  • Based on the case worker's needs assessment findings, develop a PSS plan  and provide  Individual psychological sessions   following the Psychological First Aid principles and guidance.
  • Document progress on cases, maintaining strict protocols for confidentiality and consent, and ensure that data protection protocols are respected.
  • Provide group and individual PSSsessions sessions, according to identified needs
  • Facilitate trainings for targeted communities and other humanitarian actors on psychosocial first aid (PFA)
  • Strengthen community based psychosocial support and peer support group activities.
  • Work  closely with the technical staffs (Protection Coordinator and Protection Officer) for the development of the project’s overall and PSS component.
  • Implement structured and unstructured PSS activities with women and Children, identify the most vulnerable cases and refer them based on needs. 
  • Carry out all tasks respecting key protection principles, including but not limited to: do no harm, non-discrimination, confidentiality, accountability and need-to-know principles
  • Support Protection Manager/ Officer in co-facilitating  training events   and ensure that trainings documents are archived in a safe mannrer.Support Project Manager/ Programme Manager/Head of Base in developing required donor reports, providing relevant insights on protection related issues
  • Attend regular meetings scheduled by the MHPSS officer and any other supervision sessions required by the technical staff.
  • Report structured and nonstructured PSS activities to the line manager on weekly basis or as requested by the supervisor. 
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relations with relevant partners and other project stakeholders working in the project areas
  • Work closely with protection caseworkers, refer cases and follow up with them.
  • Proactively participate in relevant coordination meetings, as requested by the supervisor.

Collaborate and coordinate with other psychologists and protection personnel to implement PSS activities in the field and ensure complementary in services are provided.

Requirements

  • University degree in Psychology
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience, including at least one year in NGO
  • Computer literacy (Word, Excel, outlook) 
  • Analytical and reporting skills
  • Respect and adherence to protection principles
  • Capacity to work under pressure, flexibility
  • Excellent interpersonal and  communication skills
  • Proficiency in English (written and spoken) is a plus.
  • Fluency in local language (written and spoken)
  • Monthly Gross  Salary 22477,00 MDL
