ABA ROLI Moldova is hiring a Staff Attorney

American Bar Association Rule of Law Initiative Moldova (ABA ROLI Moldova) is the representation of an international organization, with a presence in Moldova since 1993, implementing technical assistance programs on justice sector reform, legal education and gender equality. ABA ROLI is working with public institutions and civil society organizations on promoting justice, economic opportunity and human dignity through the rule of law.

ABA ROLI Moldova is seeking to engage a staff attorney for a full-time, fixed-term position.

Start date: March 1, 2023

Qualifications required for this position include:

  1. Fluent in English and Romanian;
  2. Primary law degree from a fully accredited law school, Masters Degree and/or LLM degree desirable;
  3. Three years of experience working in the justice sector, criminal justice, human rights and/or gender-based violence fields or similar areas;
  4. Prior experience with technical assistance programs is desired;
  5. Strong verbal and written communication skills in both English and Romanian;
  6. Strong organizational, analytical and IT skills;
  7. Team player and ability to tolerate stress;

Responsibilities:

  1. Working with ABA ROLI team to develop and implement technical assistance programs related, but not limited to: prosecutorial reform, criminal justice and anti-corruption reforms as well as strengthening legal professions and preventing gender-based violence;
  2. Contribute to monthly, quarterly reports and work plans;
  3. Collect and compile monitoring and evaluation data in accordance with project and donor requirements;
  4. Prepare legal trainings, train-the-trainer workshops and informational/practice guides for representatives of the legal community;
  5. Monitor Moldovan legal developments, including significant newsworthy items affecting the judiciary, legislature, criminal justice, legal profession and human rights;
  6. Represent ABA/ROLI at meetings with local partners or members of the international community;
  7. Manage communication with program partners, civil society organizations and other stakeholders;
  8. Prepare legal analyses and legal research.
