Under the supervision of the Nutrition and Health Program Manager and the Project Manager, the Nutrition Field Assistant is responsible to ensure the technical implementation of the programs activities, monitor the implementation, with a particular focus on supporting counsellors to provide best quality support to beneficiaries, group sessions about feeding practices, maternal health, caregiver child-interaction, childcare practices and mental health. Additionally, the Nutrition Field Assistant will ensure collaboration and communication with implementation partners, municipalities and other authorities regarding implementation and beneficiary identification.

Key activities in your role will include
  • Manage Project site activities and staff •Provide technical support in regard to IYCF, Maternal Health and care practices to promote consistent good practice
  • •Ensure all staff understand and implement programme guidelines when assessing the mother-child pair and advice the best feeding options and follow-up as appropriate•Ensure appropriate and consistent education and messaging to mothers and other caregivers at all programs contact points
  • •Facilitate the development and scheduling of outreach activities such as the mobile teams and group counselling sessions •Develop monthly work plans for the mother-baby areas with the Counsellors and appropriate staff
  • •Prepare field visits plans and supervise checklists in advance of trips •Compile monthly activity reports and assist the Program Manager with stock consumption/distribution plans for mobile teams and mother-baby areas
  • •Facilitate-cross sectoral programming, particularly to promote excellent communication and referral between IYCF, MHPSS and GBV programmes
Do you meet the profile required criteria?
  • Formal training (university degree, professional training, community training or other) in primary health care, Nurse, Midwife or Public Health or Social Worker
  • Knowledge about infant and young child feeding, child growth and nutrition during the life cycle •Additional knowledge and abilities about the alignment of nutrition with maternal and child health and mental health are an asset 
  • Demonstrate commitment to promoting and supporting optimal breastfeeding, complementary feeding and maternal as well as child health promotion 
  • Demonstrable capacity to supervise train and coach staff
  • Good team worker, good listener, high communication skills and good facilitator
  • 1-2 years of experience working in health-related field
  • Required: English, Russian, high-level communication and written skills: Asset: Romanian
  • Availability to travel to project sites across Moldova

  • Formal work contract: Long Term
  • Base: Chisinau (Moldova)
  • Salary: according to Action Against Hunger salary scale and to candidate’s previous experience.
