Junior Energy Specialist - Moldova

Position summary & job purpose:
Tetra Tech is recruiting a Junior Energy Specialist to support the implementation of the USAID funded Moldova Energy Security Activity (MESA). The objective of MESA is to strengthen Moldova’s energy security by: (1) advancing physical and market integration of the Moldovan energy sector with Europe; (2) increasing renewable energy integration; and (3) increasing investment in energy efficiency and domestic power generation, particularly through increased adoption of renewable energy technologies.
The Junior Energy Specialist will provide technical support to MESA team members as assigned by the Chief of Party. This position is full-time, and hiring is contingent upon USAID approval. Position responsibilities:
- Conduct research and undertake analyses on a variety of topics in the energy sector such as energy sector markets, power sector reform, energy policy and regulation, utility improvement, energy finance, renewable energy and energy efficiency, climate resilience
- Support the preparation of technical presentations, reports, papers and other deliverables
- Coordinate team input into reports
- Attend relevant conferences and events and prepare meeting summaries for project team
- Support Objective Leads with day-to-day tasks
- Provide meeting support: prepare agendas, take and distribute meeting minutes, and follow up on action items.
- Support Operations and Finance Manager to coordinate logistics for project events including venue, invitations, travel arrangements
- Assist task leads with drafting work plans, and updating project trackers, etc.
- Maintain shared folder of project documents, reports, photos and other information
Essential KSA's Required (experience, skills, education, certification, etc.):
- An undergraduate degree in engineering, physics, economics, energy, engineering, finance, management, policy, legal or similar technical field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience providing technical assistance with demonstrable experience (legal, technical, financial, policy, international development) in the energy sector.
- Ability to build effective relationships with peers, supervisors, clients, and stakeholders.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Fluency in English and Romanian (reading, writing and presentation skills) is required.
- Eligibility to legally work in Moldova
Valued but not required KSA's:
- Experience working for or collaborating with other international donor funded projects.
