People in Need (PIN) is a Czech non-governmental organization that provides relief aid and development assistance while working to defend human rights and democratic freedom. Throughout its presence in the country, PIN has been contributing to the development of following sectors: Sustainable Livelihood and Environment, Social Inclusion and Protection, Good Governance.

Position overview

Short description of the project

The Project Assistant will be part of the project team “Supporting together the vulnerable population affected by the energy crisis”, funded by the European Union and implemented by PIN Moldova, with the involvement of the Government of the Republic of Moldova and local public authorities. The aim of the project is to provide support to vulnerable groups affected by the energy crisis. Project activities are planned for 16 months, during which time elderly people, low-income families and families with many children, people with disabilities and other disadvantaged groups will be supported with financial and material aid as needed. Under this project, social service providers and civil society organisations will be selected to receive grants to increase their capacity of providing social services to vulnerable groups.

Purpose & Reporting Structure

The Project Assistant will be responsible for specific tasks and activities assigned within an EU-funded project. The assistant will work in close coordination and will be reporting directly to the Project Manager at People in Need Moldova.

Reporting Relationships

Reports to the Project Manager and accountable to Country Director, People in Need Moldova.

Main responsibilities:

  • Administrates and supports project activities in close cooperation with the Project Manager;
  • Ensures efficient implementation of the project activities and coordination with the relevant stakeholders, including those in the regions;
  • Participates in occasional field visits along with the programmatic and Monitoring and Evaluation team, and performs proper collection of information and dissemination with the relevant departments;
  • Contributes to the collection of data and development of narrative reports on project implementation;
  • Contributes to the translation of project’s related documents;
  • Monitors progress of the project implementation, regularly updates project management tools including Results Framework and Indicators Tracking Table;
  • Drafts contracts and uploads them in the relevant database with the support of the Project Manager;
  • Contributes to the organization of events, provides assistance with the logistics, speakers, and attendees. Closely collaborates with the Communication Officer on the visibility materials;
  • Performs other duties as may be assigned.

 

Qualification:

  • Bachelor degree in Management, Public Administration, Social Sciences or a relevant field is preferred;
  • Civic activism background, volunteering, membership in local civil society groups is a big advantage;
  • Self-initiative, Planning & Organizing – ability to contribute and initiate relevant activities for the project implementation, to prioritize important tasks and plan the time properly to manage deliver on the engagements;
  • Outstanding Communication – good communication (spoken and written) skills, including ability to explain and present complex information and prepare written documents/communications in a clear, concise style;
  • Teamwork – good interpersonal skills and ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with people in a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity;
  • Excellent command of English and Romanian is preferred, additional Russian language skills would be an advantage;
  • Good working knowledge of MS office and high computer literacy is required, interest in online tools would be welcomed;
  • Highly organized & attentive to small details;
  • Ability to work under pressure, project administration and meet deadlines.
