Open to national and international expert

Context: MEDIA-M project provide assistance for six independent media outlets (Key Partners/ KPs), which were selected to receive long-term targeted grant support, including improvement of the editorial component and producing more quality content across a variety of traditional and digital platforms in rural and urban areas. It aims to promote the development of an independent, professional media in Moldova that gives citizens access to a variety of perspectives and fosters a media sector that is more resilient to political and financial pressures, and create a more informed citizenry that understands the value of fact-based, credible journalism. As part of its activities under this project, MEDIA-M will contract an expert/consultant to provide in-house training sessions for editors and reporters at three media outlets.


To provide a three-day in-house training session per each media organization (nine field working days);

To provide recommendations for editors and reporters and assist with:

  • improving their teamwork;
  • avoiding/ preventing editorial misunderstandings;
  • editing not affect journalistic story;
  • providing written guidelines on how to teach journalists to write better, especially newcomers;
  • working effectively with sources, focus and elements of the stories;
  • motivating journalists to provide interesting topics for stories.

The period of implementation, specific and more advanced topics for training sessions that are requested by KPs and names of media organizations to work with will be discussed with the selected expert/consultant.

Selection criteria:

  • Higher education in journalism, communication, and/or other relevant areas;
  • At least 5 years of experience with similar activities;
  • Advanced knowledge of journalistic field, including challenges for Moldovan media;
  • Deep knowledge of editorial work in newsroom, new trends in the media, communication;
  • Capacity to analyze, monitor, summarize and evaluate.
