Job opportunity: Short - Term Photographer for HVAA project

Chemonics International, Inc. seeks a highly qualified Photographer for the USAID Moldova High Value Agriculture Activity (HVAA). This five-year project aims to further stimulate the transformation of the Moldovan high-value agricultural (HVA) sector into an engine of economic growth for the country leading to improved competitiveness and higher living standards for rural Moldovans in the long term.  Moldova HVAA is implemented by USAID contractor Chemonics International, Inc.

Position Description:

The purpose of this assignment is to select and contract a short-term photographer for the project needs. A professional photographer will take qualitative pictures from trainings organized for the beneficiaries, events, field visits. The photographs should be a mix of portraits and action shots.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):

-        Serve as a photographer for public events, press events, meetings or other necessities of the Project;

-        Capture high resolution images of individuals, groups, fields, plantations, events related to the project activities;

-        Perform precise photographic operations with electronically timed high-speed cameras and exposures;

-        Provide accurate and high quality pictures/photos from the project events, or on topics related to the project areas of activity, as requested by Supervisor or other team member (preparing the location for the photo session, choosing the right equipment, setting up lighting, composing and taking photos, checking image quality);

-        Take at least 20 qualitative pictures from each event or visit;

-        Process and edit photos;

-        Provide photos in electronic format (CD, USB, via Email);

-        Support other project components with photo support, and perform other tasks assigned by the Supervisor for all tasks that are consistent with this Scope of Work and the general requirements of the project;

-        Travel within Moldova, as needed, to provide the services described above.


  1. Degrees in photography, art, design, film, television other related field;
  2. Experienced in photo coverage of success stories, public events, media events;
  3. At least 5 years of working experience in working with the international projects or organizations;
  4. Competency in applying photographic best practices and techniques;
  5. Use and maintain modern and professional technical equipment (cameras, lenses, lighting and specialist software);
  6. A professional portfolio, which could be online, a traditional 'book' or a CD;
  7. Fluency Romanian and Russian, preferably English as required by program needs.
